A Fun Spring Day 2017

Image
I dodged raindrops most of the afternoon but, tiny droplets of water stuck around on the flowers like the picture above and below!  Inside the greenhouse the flowers were arranged by color and these red/orange ones had a single drop of water.  Such pretty tulips.  I imagined a melting yellow and red crayon might look a little like this.  The Butterflies are BACK!!

Birthday Fun in Louisville Summer 2016

These photos are from my fun birthday weekend in Louisville Kentucky. First pictures are from the Caldwell Castle. This home at the most beautiful wooden staircase and entryway. My photos in no way do this any level of justice. The stained glass window This photo shows the staircase a little better. The Big 4 Bridge. Rainy Day at the Zoo Spring 2016

Image
I love a good rainy day.  A rainy day at the zoo when there are only a handful of people....even better!!  Polar bear was looking right at me. This little meerkat was very excited about lunch during feeding time.  I guess crawling into the bowl was the thing to do :) I'm not entirely sure what these next few creatures are. Again, I was there in the rain and these guys were chilling by the wall trying to stay dry.  Enjoy the next few photos, that one was eating when I took the picture, but I love the expression!!

Flower Faces

Image
For a while now I have seen cool macro shots of orchids (and possibly other flowers), when an orchid show came to my local art museum I decided to give these macro shots a try. These are a few of my favorites. I see a bird in flight hovering.  What do you see? Reminds me of a bunny nose Reminds me of the snooty iris's face in Alice in Wonderland  Either a bird or an angel protecting it's charge.

Northern Arizona- Family Style

Image
Some of my favorites from the 2015 family reunion in Flagstaff and Northern AZ. Monument Valley Tribal Park is a place I have not been since the mid 1990's....it did not disappoint! The black and white photo above the view from the lodge/building inside the park just before the 17 mile trail. The left and right mittens and elephant buttes. Elephant Butte, I believe. Gnarly little tree.  Me, at Artist Point  Mostly clear blue sky, hot but not horribly so day = cool shadows,  going for perspective with this one. Looks like the same tree from the previous picture Sedona, Village of Oak Creek. Courthouse Butte Loop, Sedona Century Plant, Sedona, AZ Prickly Pear Cactus Cool looking plant. Yucca?
