Random Artistic-ish Photos

Image
Here are random close ups of various things- aka me taking random artistic photos  Cool light bulbs in the seating area of the IMA Beer garden  Picture above and several below- same section of balcony, different amounts of zoom and different angles = cool shadows and shapes  Turtles on a log.  I promise those are turtles and not bumps on a log.  a Blue Herron.  Bridge Tree trunk at the edge of a lake

Random Zoo Animal Photos

Image
I decided to be all artistic when I was walking around the zoo and look random close ups of heads and legs of animals  Meerkats aka Little Timone's- I always think of Lion King when I see these guys.  Both scampered off right after this photo- I think it was dinner time because they all went to the door.  Made you yawn!  Not bad for taking these through thick glass  Look at that face  Baby elephant before it played in the water  Parrot!

Waterlilies and other flowers

Image
I love visiting the zoo, but what I love even more is the White River Gardens next door- especially in the summer/fall when the waterlilies are in bloom.  Since it's part way through October, I did not know if they would be out, and was excited to see they were!! Below are a many of my favorites :)  It had been raining the morning of my trip to the zoo but had stopped by the time I got there.  These water droplets were still there on this pale pink one- just beautiful!  Reflections in the water are always neat to see when the surface is calm and mirror like. Sometimes, like the in photo above, the reflections look better the original.  No editing or enhancements were done to this, it really is a purple flower with a yellow almost glowing center! From the photo below and on down are all from the Museum of Art.  Clear blue skies on this day.

Butterflies and Bees

Image
Last Thursday and Friday I took half days went to the zoo and the Museum of Art  This beautiful butterfly stayed on this fern/palm leaf and let me take photo after photo of it. Top and bottom are 2 of my favorites  This bee flew into the frame just as I started pressing on the shutter.  Pretty excited I caught so much wing detail!  Monarch butterflies- beautiful, just beautiful. I haven't seen many butterflies this year but the ones I have seen are gorgeous, like this one!
